Reviews on OLDER/USED RVs?

Short of asking specific questions is there any site that allows users to review their OLDER campers/trailers/RVs? We cannot be the only family looking strictly to buy used and it's so difficult to find reviews and real life experiences of how certain models hold up.

I understand that storage, use, etc. all play a part but there must be some way to weed out the lemons from the gems?

For example: We have a 1995 Fleetwood Wilderness 5th Wheel and I would highly recommend this model to anyone. It's built like a tank. Seriously. We stuff so many kids in that thing it's like a clown car, drag it back and forth to the lake, and it just keeps chugging along. (Knock wood!)

Spouse wants to upgrade (to us this would mean early 2000's model since we are cash buyers and only use it less than 12x year to accompany our boat to the lake). I'm like "only if I can find reviews of c. 2003 trailers and how they hold up TODAY. :D
  • CONDITION is the important factor when buying a used RV.

If it looks ratty, worn and dirty, you can usually assume it did not receive the proper maintenance.
  • Yes, certain brands may hold up better if you were able to compare similar living, RVing, camping, and maintenance situations. But a high end RV, not maintained, allowed to leak, and heavily used, isn't worth much at all. I would just look real close at any possible purchase. Top, bottom, and everything in between.
  • It's really a lot easier than you think. You are approaching your problem backwards.

The first thing to do is list your requirements, your size, slides, wheels, features and intended use. Tell us about your truck, and the number of people you have to camp.

Then the money you want to spend.

Now people have something to write about, and they always will.

Another way is to ask about specific makes and models. Or do a search on here for makes to see what people think.
