Since our Ford came with a camera system, I wanted to take advantage of the hard-wired equipment.
Although I'm not sure how the Chevy compares, I bought a wiring harness from Ford and a simple license plate camera (TaoTronics) on-line and am very happy with the set-up. The camera only cost $16.99 and has held up for about 2-years so far.
For the price and performance, I'm very satisfied.
