RV cover and refrigerator

Recently I covered my Avenger 25RL with a ADCO cover as it remains parked and plugged in in my driveway. I noticed that even though my Dometic freezer stays cold, the refrigerator does not. I'm wondering if covering up the outside access to the refrigerator is affecting it's ability to cool.
  • I'd be afraid one could easily over heat something or even start a fire that way. Then there's the possibility of forcing carbon monoxide into the living space.
It really doesn't seem like a good idea.
  • Think of the roof vent for the fridge as a "chimney". Would you build a fire in a fireplace and then cover the chimney?
  • I don't think it's quite that big a deal, I mean you are not going to be running it on propane under there... Probably still not a good idea, but no worries about carbon monoxide or flames venting out the chimney or anything.

On electric, the heat generated by the electric heater that boils the ammonia still needs to be vented. The cover is blocking the top vent and side intake vent not allowing the heat to escape. Overheating on electric can still cause a fire.

    No big deal?
