The OP is right -- even righter than he thinks he is! We sometimes stay at RV parks (especially at the end of a long day of driving), and we do not consider that camping.
But frankly, even though we boondock a lot, way out in the national forests, that's not really camping. Compared to a tent, this is luxury -- we have a little bathroom with a shower, a little fridge, a little dinette that converts to a bed, a waterproof structure, a heater (which we almost never use). It's RVing, not truly camping, and we love it.
We could call it glamping, although our rig is not glamorous. I prefer "smoothing it," rather than roughing it. Silence, privacy, wonderful views, and three ice cubes in my adult beverage at the end of the day. (It is a very small fridge.)
