Spent years teaching boys to wash their hands after going one or two and Shasta makes a bathroom without a sink. Heck! Betcha Shasta executives DON'T have their families out in this model. And where do I shave? Kitchen sink?
What's with all the negativity? Different strokes for different folks. We are looking at the exact same trailer and I'm very thankful to see something posted up about it. We are coming for a Jayco 26bh, but as a family of 3, it's way more than we need.
To the OP,
What other campers did you look at? We are only look at the full 8 foot wide models and this one and the Starcraft AR One Maxx keep coming up mainly due to the larger holding tanks and quality of build. I haven't been inside the Shasta yet but I really liked the Starcraft. But the Shasta is a fair amount less expensive.
Also, does the queen bed lift up for any storage? What about the bottom bunk?
Thanks for any info you could provide. It's in my opinion a sweet looking camper.
Online we looked at a handful, but quickly realized we wanted an 8-foot wide model. so that scrubs out a lot of these smaller bunkhouse models (Forest River Wolf Pup, Sonoma 167BH, etc). Also browsed Keystone's units (Hideout 175LHS, etc). Couple nice features of theirs is that they have a hanging wardrobe by the queen bed and a sink in the bathroom. Also under-bunk storage accessible from the outside. but there were none anywhere near me to look at in person. Also, WAAAY higher hitch weight, almost 500 lbs, our TV only allows 450.
KZ's mini bunkhouse build was beautiful but, narrow body, and basically a 2-person dinette (30"). no thanks. Liked the fact they have the bigger fridge in theirs, and it's raised off the floor. Their water cap's are tiny tiny tiny.
In person, at the dealer we ended up buying from, we looked at the Oasis, Gulf Stream Amerilite and one other, which was apparently quite forgettable. We also looked at the AR at a different dealer. Gulf stream's build quality didn't meet our expectations.
The StarCraft was heavier, and my wife preferred the 3-burner stove in the Oasis. Also from what I can tell the storage in the Oasis unbeatable. the kids have cubbies for their lovies and some other toys in their bunks, there's storage under the lower bunk, although not accessible from outside. There's a wide cabinet in the bath that reaches 70% the width of the trailer, divided vertically with a shelf. Extra storage under the (short) Queen bed, a big pantry (although it's only got one shelf, is narrow but deep), storage under the forward facing dinette seat, nice big overheads. The floor plan and overall design just works for us.
