Security light on..dang it.. vats?

I have an old 2000 Suburban 1500. It's been a really good vehicle. Recently the security light has started coming on intermittently while driving. I checked the little plug connector and lightly crimped the individual connections on the plug to the ignition switch. If anything that made it worse. I have read that I can use the proper resistor and just bypass the ignition security feature.

Anyone have any experience with this? I'm afraid it's going to leave me stranded..at work..Oh lord..
