12 years? By then the demand for new ICE cars might be so small you have trouble buying anywhere.
Upcoming ban might force upgrades on the grid. - The ballot box can change everything. And unless those states come up with the money to improve infrastructure before then, I'm guessing people will vote to have lights and heat in their homes over electric cars.
Mandating things to Americans is just simply not going to work. If you want Americans to accept something new you need to make it better and affordable. As the EV's get better they will become more popular provided the energy is there to support them.
My vote is to promote the hybrid vehicles as you get the best of both worlds. Cheap local travel without the fear of going dead on the road when on a long trip. - JaxDadExplorer IIIGive the auto companies lawyers a few minutes, I’ll bet there will be a spate of new ‘hybrids’ that fit the legal definition but act a lot like a traditional ICE.
- wildtoadExplorer IIThere are viable alternatives to all electric now and coming. One of course is hybrids as mentioned. One gaining traction is eFuels made from captured co2 and water, then there’s Hydrogen.
I’ve been thinking about the Wrangler 4Xe. For my at home needs it would be fine for my normal daily activities in regards to electric only miles. I can charge it at home. As a toad, not so much due to weight. At over 5k lbs not viable with my gasser mh. - NamMedevac_70Explorer IIWe just discussed this topic in a very recent post in the previous week. Stirring the pot dude??? Anyway, not going to happen.

i read once about an experiment producing diesel from algae.
very interesting until i saw how many acres of ponds it took to make a few gallons in a few weeks - fj12ryderExplorer IIIJust media fodder from the politicians.
- monkey44Nomad IIIt doesn't ban registration in those states. Buyer will go to next state, buy what vehicle he wants, ICE Hybred, register it and drive it. Sometimes politicians have really, really stupid ideas. And, used vehicle prices will skyrocket again in those states.
- Tyler0215ExplorerMore ignorant politicians jumping on the BS green wagon. IF it happens 2034 will be a big sales year for ICE vehicles.
The dummies haven't said what happens to the ICE you own. Will you have to sell out if state? Wil the trade-in be worth nothing because the dealer can't sell the used unit?
If the law only applies to new units, the price of used is going to sky rocket (more than it already has).
Even if enacted ICE units will be on the road till 2055 or later.
I'll stay in Iowa where common sense prevails.
