I'm now at 240,121 miles and running strong. For me the concern is not from my truck being a 6.0l instead it's just from the miles. And because they have all been hard miles. On my return trip home I had to climb up I90 through vantage which for those who have driven know can present a challenge for any tow vehicle.Anyway I was happy with how well the old truck did pulling that hill. I was able to maintain 60 with enough pedal left to pass slow moving trucks as needed. Outside temp was 89deg my coolant temp was 219 oil temp 220 Trans temp 170. During some stretches when I was passing slower vehicles Temps were plus 10. As I stated I was very happy with how well she did but I do know the day will come as it does with all vehicles that she will need to head to the shop or even worse be put out to pasture and retired.

I also loved driving my 2005 PSD. I would still be driving it if I didn't need a bigger truck. Radiator Hill in Vantage was flattened by my truck many times in the ten years I owned it and I was was usually over 19K lbs GCW when driving through there.The mountain passes in WA, OR, CA, NV, UT, ID, MT and WY were always something to look forward to rather than worry about.

If you look around, there are still quite a few on the road and at campgrounds. Especially for us Ford guys who have owned one in the past, its easy to distinguish the sound of a 6.0.

Nice post. It's good to hear from the satisfied 6.0 drivers instead of always hearing negative stories or bad tales from a "friend" someone knows. You guys are also right about the shear number of 6.0s on the road doing work with no issues.

X2 - I think many/most folks on here forget about simple statistics and human nature. You are about 100X more likely to read about a problem on an internet forum than something good. After reading this post and remembering all the problems I think it may be more like 1000X more likely to hear about a problem.

This also goes hand in hand with the folks that have one bad experience with a brand and rule them out forever. Talk about an incorrect conclusion.... yikes. I've seen this over and over again.

If you happen to be the poor guy at the wrong end of the bell curve you should probably hop right back on the same brand. The chances of it happening again are super rare. Anyhow, I'll get off my soap box and stop thinking about statistics classes from college.

That Vantage hill. One time I dropped to 5 mph going east bound from Royal City to Cle Elum. 40 mph headwind, my mirrors even folded in twice. Top speed was about 45. Crossing the Columbia river made you think on that bridge.

If you're from Seattle/Everett area, care to recommend some mechanics?

Little lost here! Vantage hill is uphill going West bound and Royal City to Cle Elum is also a West bound route.
It is just 10 miles of constant 5 percent to 6 percent grade.
