Shower Walls?

Did the previous owner use the shower? If so there may not be an issue.

The manufacturer intended the buyer to use the shower. Unfortunately longevity probably was not their greatest concern.

We have the same thing. Our bath is a wet bath -- toilet inside the shower area. So I always wipe down the vinyl wallpaper with a squeegee, followed by a towel. The towel dries overnight, and we can use it again the next day.

Bottom line -- no problem. We spend weeks at a time with this setup, showering every evening.

I tried waxing the vinyl wallpaper with car wax -- it accomplished nothing and I stopped doing it.

We have a vinyl shower curtain that hangs inside the door. But there is no curtain protecting the wallpaper.

I am not sure that the wallpaper really needs to be wiped down every night -- but it can't hurt, right?

That's how I operated for 7 seasons camping with my Desert Fox.

There are shower enclosures that RV dealers can order. They are the same as what comes in some new TTs.

Once of the requirements on a small TT I am looking to buy is that it has a shower enclosure around the tub/shower.

You might try using a regular household (lightweight) shower surround. I am considering it to modernize my TT. It will probably end up being done next year.

Have you considered attaching a clear, heavyweight shower curtain (or some other clear vinyl/plastic) with Velcro to the walls? That way you would still see the original walls (which I am supposing matches the rest of the bathroom?) but they would be protected by the vinyl. The curtain/vinyl can be attached at the top of the wall and cut at the bottom so that it hangs down into the pan. It would probably give you more room in the shower rather than having a shower curtain hung on the rail all around. A number of people who have TrailManors have done this mod and are very happy with it.

I'm not sure what exactly is behind it, does not look special or waterproof itself. The paper is peeling in a few areas. I was thinking of painting it with laytex paint. Any sort of urethane, I am afraid, will stink for weeks to come. I travel a lot and can be living in it for weeks on end. Maybe I can do that when I have a time when it will sit for a long period.

Could you coat it with clear exterior polyurethane or boat varnish?
That should give you added protection.
