Slide is leaking

I just bought a 2002 Keystone Cabana 2150. In the process of replacing the cracked linoleum I found some soft floor by the slide. After a lot of rain I found the slide is leaking water in on both bottom corners into the camper. So do you think the seals need to be replaced, or how do you start the process
Is is a weekend project to do yourself or best left to a professional?
  • While I have never had a camper with a slide out, my neighbor does and said he was told by the dealer rep on his walk through to slightly tilt the camper downward on the slide out side and this will allow water to run off the side of the camper and keep water seepage into the camper at a minimum. Neighbor said he has had no leaks in five years. Yearly maintenance on the slide out would be must. Good Luck.
  • Open the slide and take the bottom corner angle strips off that run horizonally. They will be the length of the slide opening along the bottom and probably aluminum. You may find there is little or no caulking left and rusted screws. This provides an avenue for the water to run down the side and into the bottom of the slide and comes out in the inside corners. I had this problem recently with my Keystone and recaulking all the seams stopped the leaks.
  • well i did run a hose on top of the slide and watched it drip/run in the bottom inside corner of the wall/slide meet
  • My process would be to first try and figure where the water is coming from - and go from there.
