the slide on our 2005 32 foot terry quantum has been temperamental for some time. Mostly it seems to have trouble in initiating closing. It usually opens just fine. It sounds weak and clicks usually just once when trying to close. Sometimes I push from the outside while my wife pushes the button to get it started. other times you just hit the button over and over and it will move just a little each time until it finally gets moving. After the first few inches it starts to work just fine. I noticed that the actuator rubs against the side of the hole where it goes through the frame. at first I thought it needed to be adjusted one side or the other then I decided it is slightly bent. So I put a bracket on it just before it goes through the frame to hold it in a straight line and away from the sides of the hole in the frame. unfortunately this did not seem to improve anything. Also it seems interesting to me that it has the trouble more so pulling in. Because when pulling I would expect the actuator to pull straighter and not be pushed against the hole in the frame. I would expect the actuator to tend to bow more and rub more against the frame when it is pushing when the slide is going out. I also noticed that when the slide comes out the motor clicks and stops before the bottom part of the inner seal makes contact. That makes me wonder if I should adjust the bolts that raise the outer part of the slide until the seal makes better contact at the bottom. the slide does make contact on the top of the inner seal well before the bottom and I can see that as it continues to go out it is raising the outer part of the slide. It seems that raising the outside edge of the slide should make it seal better and maybe the slide function better. It looks like the slide has all ready been adjusted in this direction once before. So maybe that indicates that the track is bent? Also the last owners were heavy maybe they bent the tracks. I have thought of replacing the actuator but there is no brand or model number on it. it only says that it is 12 volts and 18/1 ratio. I guess maybe I need to call and ask the camper manufacturer.
I would say you need to do the adjustment bolt and go from there. Your slide motor is prob made by venture manufacturing, they make a large percentage of trailer slide motors. The problem could also be a stripped gear inside the slide motor. You don't have to replace the whole motor, it can be easily removed from trailer and opened up to replace the gear which you can buy from venture a lot cheaper than a whole new motor.
