It is simple color coded wires, no need to get an over-priced dealer involved.

Fairly easy job to replace the cord.

Personally I'd do this repair once and right by replacing the damaged cable with this Bargman Molded 7-pin Trailer Connector w/8' Cable.

Fortunately, replacing that umbilical cord is a lot cheaper than replacing the truck and trailer due to the wreck that happened because it wouldn't stop fast enough when that idiot pulled out in front of you . . . an accident you avoided, thank goodness.

Still, who among us hasn't forgotten to plug that thing in? Most times it doesn't get chewed up on the ground. Again, thank goodness.

So give yourself the obligatory "dope slap," promise yourself you'll never do anything THAT stupid again, go forth and sin no more.

I guess you didn't check your brake lights and blinkers before pulling out.

Mine was cut by the hitch or something on route. Not difficult to repair.

We always do the light check before pulling out.. Even do that with the little utility trailer.. Just habit..

But, since the damage is done, if you feel like doing the work yourself, and have the proper crimping tools and are not color blind, you should be able to do it your self..

I'd go all the way back to the "junction box" where the original one connected to and just get a new one and swap it out.

If it's all under the covered underbelly thing, then you have some more work to do..

As a matter of habit (spent a lot years owning and managing businesses with heavy duty trucks), I always do a walk-around and check all the signal lights, running lights, etc., then as I start to move, do a manual brake check with the controller. Keeps these things from happening. The repair shouldn't be difficult, taking the underbody off is a PITA.

Send me $20 and I won't tell anybody.

Really, it's fairly simple to replace. The cord that SoundGuy linked to is nice. We used that exact cord to replace the cord on our race trailer. The molded plug seals out moisture.
