It is interesting to me that all of these "economy" smaler trucks get 10 mpg or less when towing. There is no doubt that towing is hard on them. Most gas engines that tow a lot are worn out by 150-200,000 miles or less.
My Dad says "your truck is overkill." I don't think so. A large diesel truck is loafing along pulling less 4,000 pounds. I expect to get 400,000 miles out of this engine before it needs some new injectors and a few other things. I will take 15 mpg towing and 20 mpg empty all day long.
