Our 1978 NuWa truck camper has a fold-down step, but as the camper sits high on the Chevy diesel, we have been using a MILK CRATE for a ground step and to get in and out. But we need to build a folding, higher and safer step to carry with us. I can do this, but would like some ideas on design, etc. THANKS MUCH.

BradW, forgot I was in the TC forum and was referring to building a step stool not an actual step.

Tiki, I see where you went wrong posting your picture and I only see it because it gets me all the time as well. You correctly loaded the picture to the site and copied the address. But you made a mistake of trying to post the picture by clicking on the yellow postcard icon.

The yellow postcard works for normal picture posting, but when you use the RV.net posting app you can't use the icon and instead you have to just paste the text right into the body of your posting.

The fix is easy, just edit your posting and in picture line you will see there is a double IMG one lower case and one upper case with square brackets at the beginning and end of your picture. Just delete the lowercase img's and brackets from each end and your picture will show. If you want an example of what I mean do a quote on AnEv942's posting with your picture and you will see how the address is different with only one IMG at the beginning and end.

Awesome steps by the way.

Thanks AnEv , eventually I'll get it . The threads are dull because there is sand mixed with the urethane to make it non-slip .

If you build a step make sure it is wider at the bottom than the top. This will help prevent it from rolling under you r foot if you step on the edge.

I don't understand what you are saying here. I will soon be building some rear steps also.

I have a 25 foot stick of 1" square stock next to the house. I'm thinking I'll use some of that and that steel mesh to make a little 2 step dealie that doesn't hook to the camper since not all parking spots are created equal. I don't care how awesome glowsteps are, they're overpriced as all get out.

These are some steps I made from redwood ,only about 10#, they can fit though door and sit on floor . Trouble was they block the bath door for quick stops , now they go outside under the overhang . There is a bracket on the truck that the hooks go into and the back s bunggied to the step . Nice slope , almost stair dimensions
