SuperTruss companion hitch installation

OK, we are about to pull the trigger on a MINT 2011 Lance 1181 and I need to make double D sure I get the correct gear to mount it with.
The owner now has Happijack tiedowns that bolt inside the pick up box that require drilling and THAT ain't gonna happen w/my new 3500 Ram!!

The fronts, no problem, the rears, however, I would sure like to see some pictures from you good folks of the Torklift SuperHitch Companion installed as I want to get the correct brackets to fit it as well as their SuperTruss, which will be bought later.

I cannot for the life of me, from looking at the pictures on E-Bay of the D1104, which the ST folks say I will need, bolts to my existing OEM class 5 hitch.

I suspect it somehow bolts to the inside or outside of the frame AHEAD of the OEM hitch??? Also, does this interfere with the spare tire location, which raises another burning question....How in the world do you access the spare sould the need arise, with the camper and hitch installed??

Are there any decent looking front bumper mount racks for the spare??

Looking forward to what anyone may have in the way of advice and/or pictures. Am I correct in my assumption that the S/T assly mounts IN FRONT of the OEM unit??

  • Had this entire set up with my Lance 830. The rear bolts directly to the ends of the factory hitch. ANY questions you have give Torklift a call. Never talked to a greater group of people.

  • Thank You!!
One last question before I order the rest of this stuff
Plan ongoing with the Fastguns w/locks.
Are the fronts and rears the same length or are either shorter or longer?
If they are the same, I order 2 sets/pairs, correct??
  • The longer versions are all the same length. You will need 4 total. There is plenty of adjustment with the threaded rods on each Fastgun
  • I think you are asking about the rear Torklift frame mount tiedowns???

I recently put a D1104 on my 06 RAM dually. The rear tiedowns slide into the open ends of the SuperHitch and bolt to the hitch itself. Very easy installation.
  • Thanks again folks, I got the rear frame mount tie downs figured out thanks to Bedlam. And, Kerry, I'll get right on ordering the f/guns in the morning.
We were out your way a week ago!! Made the Mucungie, PA car show last weekend with out 1960 Chrysler 300F and did the Gettysburg and Flight 93 Memorial on the way back to IA.
