Table leg conversion- Best ever

I have a Northstar 850SC which I love. It is, however, a typical non slide U shaped dinette. I am not particularly enthralled with this set up. The table takes up a lot of floor room and the table leg is in the way of getting comfortable as is the fold up support for it which digs into the side of my leg. Awful set up. The original rectangular table that is the dinette bed support as well was impossible to move around. Last year I put that away under the bed for when one of my boys is with me and we need the dinette bed. I bought a round, unfinished, 24 inch pine table top from Lowes and made a regulation sized and color chess/checkers board and polyurethaned it for a table. This was still on the damn round table leg out in the middle of the floor though and the support still dug in.

I have looked at and thought long and hard about putting in office or boat chairs or building 2 boxes and setting the chairs and tables up at bed rail height (which would give me a better view through the pop up windows) but just couldn't make up my mind.

I saw a table leg set up that Northstar has as an option called a Launa table leg that is adjustable in height and pivots around 2 points. Pretty cool looking. Internet here I come. Not quite. Only place I could find them was Australia and with S&H it was going to be $400ish. I could call Northstar and order from them probably. I was on my way home from Gettysburg and swung into Truck Camper Warehouse (where I bought the camper) and he has them! He told me that he and Rex from Northstar bought a bunch together from Italy. $240- out the door and I bought an extra wall mount for flexibility. Now if I could only find that spare in my shop.

This thing is awesome. It took a little time to decide where I would mount it. This was a little more difficult because the wing door on the dinette side is bigger than the other and I use it. I had to get the height right and out of the way of the door latch and cut out a small chunk of the bed support. The cushion is squished a little there but so what. This pivots completely out of the way when I am moving about. No matter which section I sit at I can swing it around to me, tighten a 1/4 turn or so on 2 nice handles and it wont move if that's what I desire for eating or watching movies, etc. The round table is mounted of center as well for more positional options. I may just buy better foam and leave everything as is now. This table leg would work in any camper table set up. Well worth the money. It comes with the hardware and shims for leveling in case you need them. In the picture you can see the floor cup for the original table leg and how nicely this swings out of the way.

  • Thanks for all of the suggestions. I am trying to find an alternative to my cramped dinette table. In addition to eating my wife and I both use 17" laptops. I am going to look again. Perhaps I could use two swingout tables. Has anyone tried that approach?
  • I really like the Lagun table setup in my 2015 Northstar Liberty. Lots of adjustability and seems pretty sturdy.
  • This Lagun has more pivot points for adjusting placement. I looked at something like this and didn't buy it due to that. This Lagun is almost infinitely adjustable. I do not own stock etc.....
  • Somebody is trying to cash on RV and boating enthusiast.
Fully blown Jotto desk on ebay cost less than $200

The top is for laptop with holding strap, but couple of dollars will buy you nice piece of countertop.
I might even have nice scrap of granite if you want to pick it up in Bay Area.
  • Nice setup. The construction looks very similar to the table I have in my truck to keep laptop on it.
Mine is black rounded tubings, but the same idea. Bought it years ago, but there were plenty on ebay.
