Tanneau Covers and Tool Box/Fuel Tanks

I have a Perragon bed cover on my current truck which because of the way it operates would not allow me to have an auxiliary fuel tank/tool box combo. I'm thinking I will put an extra tank on the new hauler but want a bed cover that will allow me to access the tank while hooked up. The only one I have found that I think would work is the Bak Flip which folds up against the back of the cab. It doesn't appear any of the folding kind other than the Bak Flip would allow access to a tool box whether hooked up or not. It doesn't appear the kind that roll up into a box would work well with a tool box either. I want a hard cover that is lockable, by the way.

Any suggestions?

We have the G2 Bak-flip. DH moved it from a 2010 F450 to his 2014 F450. We also found out he can leave it upright against the back window in transit when we're hauling so he could access the fill the Transfer Flow tank in the bed.

That won't be necessary on the 2014 as we had the dealer replace the OEM 38g tank with a new 65g Titan.

  • I had looked at Bak Flip a number of times but for some reason had not paid any attention to their Roll-X roll up aluminum. That might work.
  • My hard lockable Undercover tonneau cover fits tight to the bed rails so unless the tank-toolbox is completely below the plane at the top of the bed rails, at least that type of tonneau cover will not work. The one suggested by JJSpectre might be your solution.

l would be interested to read about your final solution.
  • There are a few options at the link. This is a Canadian distributor, but I'm sure you'll find them if you look by specific brand/model.

  • Try the Diamondback SE or HD. I have been looking at them for my truck.
