tc fathers day picnic - spokane washington june 16

long range forecast looks good...74 and mostly cloudy so this is a go.

we are going to be at BEAR LAKE north of Spokane Washington for a picnic. our bbq will be able to be used that we have with our camper. We will be parking on the n.w. side of the lake. right next to a big grass area with horseshoe pits and a playground. there are also bathrooms available. shade and sun. dogs are allowed in the park as long as they are leashed. there is a paved trail all the way around the lake too. we will have a set of horseshoes and a couple sets of bocce balls. I will also have my inflatable kayak out if there is little or no wind that day. so if anyone wishes to try it out they can. life vests MUST be worn to use my kayak. I have 2 adult size and 1 child size life vests available.

this is open to all friends and family. bring your meat dish and a side dish along with your beverages.

bear lake has NO entry fee this year.

when you turn off highway 2 at the entrance keep left and follow the gravel road around until you see our camper parked.

time: we will be there in the morning so come early if you wish. bbq at 1pm.

hope we see you there.

  • happy fathers day to all the fathers out there.

did you know that fathers day was started right here in Spokane Washington? it was started by a woman that lived here and wanted fathers to get the recognition like mothers do for mothers day. it started to be celebrated in 1910. although there was a woman who started to push for a fathers day from west Virginia in 1908 it was the woman from Spokane who pushed for it nationally.

I will be celebrating it by going on this picnic of course. it is going to be in the high 80's with lots of sun today.

    enjoy your day dads.
  • weather looks awesome for sunday. they now say 83 degrees.

if anyone is interested in finding out what geocaching is, I can put on a small class of what it is about. there is a cache hidden close by to the area we will be at. we found it a couple weeks ago.

you might want to bring a chair to sit on, or a blanket to lay out on the grass. there are picnic tables too. I just cant remember how many there are there.

How often is Bear Lake a no entry fee for the year, or is it staggered?

The years past its been a day use fee. This is the first time that I can remember there has not been a fee. Will it continue? Who knows.
