Lets not forget Richie Valens. - AnEv942NomadWonder what history car has with the NHRA Drag Safari logo..
edit link missing pics - bcbigfootExplorerI don't see a stability or weight problem it's a 5500lb car with a 700lb aluminum camper, that's no more than a fat Elvis, Big Bopper and Buddy Holly in the back seat.

- Kayteg1Explorer IIJudging from the dings - he could use rear view camera.
It is way cooler that those tiny teardrops modern SUV are pulling. - burningmanExplorer IIThat's a tiny camper on a huge solid car. It's been that way for decades and apparently hasn't crashed. An old Hudson is no '58 Plymouth.
And that car even has a Torqueflite trans, essentially the very same one behind my Cummins, just without the overdrive.
And you could even get a factory overdrive on that car!
That car is fully capable of what it's doing and the fact it still exists almost 60 years later should tell you something, most modern vehicles haven't got a prayer of being around for 60 years. - romoreExplorer IIWith P series tires and passenger car drum brakes I would be scared to death of driving that thing. Not to mention the high roll center. I remember seeing one built on an old Hudson, the body had been cut off behind the front seat. There was daylight under the tires as it came around the corner toward me, I was on foot with no place to go.
- bcbigfootExplorerLast year I toured Harold Lemay's private home car collection (famed Tacoma Wash. collector of unique vehicles) in his collection were some rare 50's/60's campers, one of them was very similar to this car camper. I will see if I can find the picture and remember how to post them.
