Tepui kukenam roof tent

Has anybody ever used one of these on a camper shell? We have a TH but I wanted to get one so my kids can have there Lil private space. Will a camper shell hold up, I know there thick fiberglass and I don't see it being a problem just want to know if there's any down side to it? If you have done this and have pics please share. Thanks dudes.
  • I will Contact snug top and see the weight rating. I think we should be fine my kids are 11 and 9.
  • Contact your camper shell company and ask what the roof loading capacity is for your model. They are not all created equally - I had an aluminum contractor canopy that had 500 lb roof capacity.

You may need to buy an "exo-skeleton" type rack that gives you the capacity you need.

  • Some of my Jeep buddies use them on their JKU's, and Cherokees/4Runners, ETC. Of course it could be a LOOOONG first step in the middle of the night. But they do fold up and have a cover when stowed. Love the idea, but not the cost. I'm still using a tent that attaches to the back of my Jeep for off road stuff, and either my camper, or my off road trailer for times I can tow the trailer.
  • It's bolted on the cross bars like you would mount any other kind of roof rack i guess The way the framing inside is constructed is what supports the over hang. Very easy to install and setup. Im wondering if it's OK to mount on top of my camper shell.

I guess you are referring to one of these. Have never seen one first hand but after looking online at the various photos I really don't see how this is supported to the roof. Most often I see a very large overhang off to one side and don't see any posts going to the ground...

I could see one of these setup over the bed of my truck...
