ThanksGiving on the beach in Ft Myers

Thanksgiving in the TC..sure..No Black Friday, even better.

What a great trip..a TC, TT and my brother in law rented a house.

Every year my wife puts on Thanksgiving at our house but this year we decided to do it on the beach at Red Coconuts. Weather was perfect with a high in the mid 70's and nights were in the lower 60's. (That's cold in Florida)

Headed over Alligator Alley around 5pm.

My brother in law brought his tail gating BBQ so we removed my rack and installed it on the front.

Riding the bikes on the beach was a blast. We rode down into the main area of Ft Myers and had lunch.

Great times. Not sure we would do it again. It was a lot of work getting the food to the table and keeping everything hot.
Was worth the memory.

  • LOVE Ft Myers Beach! We used to Spring Break there and Condo'ed at SeaWatch. It got to the point the Manager called the wife and I by first name when we would walk in with our luggage each year. I've been to Pete's but around the corner is a pizzeria that had AWESOME slices as big as your head. Ohhhh, and the Chocolate shop a little towards the beach! Peanut Butter Fudge to die for.

Now that we are Camping the Wifey and I were talking just last night about taking the TT to Florida this spring.
Nice to learn about The Red Coconut. Sounds like you'd recommend it...
    Thanks for stirring the memories!

Also had my best friend with me, Jake my 13 year old Golden. The boy loves the water but doesn't realize his age and over does it.

He will go into the water and stand there..people walking past would stop and ask what was wrong..did you train him to just stand there..at one point I had a crowd gather around to watch this dog enjoying the cool water on his skin.

My best friend is Andy Bear, my almost 14 year old Red Siberian Husky... He too loves the water and does the same thing. Just stands there now and sleeps a LOT... Glad you included Jake in the fun! Happy belated Thanksgiving to you and your family. Great trip report showing what Thanksgiving is really about... :)

  • Nice to see a family together on Thanksgiving.
I went to High School in Ft. Myers. Drank a lot of beer on that beech. It's great to see the Red Coconut is still around. I'll be back for the first time in nearly 30 years, for Christmas.
    Thanks for sharing.
  • We were swimming right next to the Red Coco... Left the TC at home and stayed at our condo though. (bummer) but plan on heading back down in March with the old TC. Boondocking is the plan. We will see.
  • Sorry we missed you as we were In the Fort Myers/Naples area Thanksgiving and will remain in Naples until ,December 12. Gotta go home and do that Santa Claus thing.
  • Thanks for sharing. Great trip report! We lived in Sunrise, fl for 6 years. 2002 to 2008. Moved back to Dallas for both our jobs. Love it here but sure do miss Florida. Brother lives in Pompano and Dad still lives Daytona. Will be planning a trip there in january.
