Thoughts on next tow vehicle
I have a 2006 Subaru Outback that I have towed my 2009 Coleman Yuma pop up with for several years.
The Outback is getting up there in mileage, and I would like some ideas for a more ideal tow vehicle. I installed a trans temp gauge, trans cooler, and brake controller in the Subaru, but I always had to be super meticulous about packing all the weight behind the camper axle, and this included having to remove the propane bottle and storing it inside the camper too. I'd like a TV with a little more "wiggle room" this time around.
I thought I had things figured out and was zeroing in on a pre-owned 2012-2014 Grand Caravan, but the local dealer says he can't remember the last time he had a used one with the factory tow package. Since this will be a newer vehicle and the warranty will be a big factor for me, I don't know if installing the items I did on my Subaru will affect the warranty.
Other reading I've done seems to indicate that mini vans in general aren't the best tow vehicles, although I am not sure exactly why.
So I was wondering what class or types of vehicles people might recommend? Nothing overkill - but Something where I could tow my Yuma (I took it to the scales loaded about 4 years ago and I think it was around 2200 or 2400 lbs), 2 adults, 1 child and all the assorted camping gear like bikes and\or kayaks etc.
Thank you,
