The best pads I've ever used are EBC Yellow Stuff. They are not particularly long-lasting or dust-free, but if you want to STOP right now, there's nothing better. And they will not fade.
I went through a set of them on my F-250 in about 30k miles (with pretty heavy use) so I decided to try Raybestos pads to see if they last longer. But now I don't care. I can't wait for them to wear out so I can go back to EBC.
To me a 30000 mile change out is not a big deal...changing the pads out on a late model Ford is very easy in my opinion. To me the biggest PITA is wrestling with the wheels. I like the idea of stopping quick verses extended pad life.
