I was also having problems finding replacements for my old BFG Rugged Trails mainly because they are 17" rims------I was very lucky to find brand new Firestones being taken off new trucks (to replace with bigger alloys and tyres (tires)----I got them VERY cheap because there is no demand for that size in the UK :B--------I wrecked one in Portugal and had to have one shipped from Germany---and pay the full price :(.
At the time we were living in a 5er and had nowhere to store any more new Firestones or the best of our 'old' tyres, that was a real shame!!
To be totally honest----I really miss the BFGs and don't think the Firestones will live as long as they did. The Firestones have gone from the very North to the very South of Europe (and more) and seem to be doing the job just fine.
My choice would still be BFG Rugged Trail (if I could get them in Europe----and afford them)
