I need new tires on my Jay Feather 26' TT. It weighs about 6,000 lbs loaded. Original tires are ST205/75/R14 6PR LR C (max load single 1760 lbs)I've read several tire threads here, and still have some questions. Of course, I want to spend as little as I can but still get good quality. I put 19,000 miles on the original tires in three years, and plan to put on 5 to 7,000 miles each year. So, quite a bit of use.Questions: 1. Seems like I can get C or D rated tires for not much price difference - should I definitely get one or the other? There seem to be more choices in the C rating.2. Most are 6 ply, a few 8 ply. Again, is one a clear choice?3. I see a few good choices that are 215 vs 205. Can I go up to 215 with the rims I have, and are there any advantages?4. Any thoughts on price range/brands? Seems like I can get Greenball Transmaster D/8ply from Walmart for $49 ea, or Carlisle C or D or Maxxis C for about $85, or Goodyear Endurance D for $103.Anybody care to answer/opine on these questions? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

They put 205 75 14 on my trailer, had they wanted something else on the trailer, they would have put them.My trailer has a sticker with the recommended tire size.

I'm keeping the size that Jayco wanted me to have.

I trust the Goodyear Endurance tires that are made in AL and NC.

They put 205 75 14 on my trailer, had they wanted something else on the trailer, they would have put them.

My trailer has a sticker with the recommended tire size.

If I may say one more thing without someone jumping on me...

Even cheaper tires would work for me, with a good TPMS to keep a check on them.

Another vote for Goodyear Endurance. I seen the damage a cheap tire can do to a RV without wheel wells.

1. Depends on the trailers GAWR and GVWR and actual load on the axles. All need to be considered.
2. no but much depends on answers to #1 answers.
3. IMO as long as the larger tire has clearance in the wheel well a next size up can be a good upgrade.
4. The Greenball have the most tire complaints on NHTSA/dot.gov website.
..Carlisle makes several line of trailer tires. The only one I would choose is their new Carlisle HD.
..Maxxis has a checkered history of failures over the years and still 65 mph rated. Most other are 75-81 mph rated. Speed rating are more to do with a tire ability to deal with heat as our load carrying tires on our trailer are subjected to.
...Goodyear Endurance is a new gen ST tire out about two years now. So far very few if any reliability complaints and a good tire for the money.

If your trailers sits 11 months out of a year and makes short local runs then cheap tires may be for you. If the trailer is on the highway at interstate speed then IMO a better tire is worth the money.
Were not required by any law to use the same size tire as the trailer mfg picked. Your only requirement when replacement comes around is...... the sum of the maximum load ratings of the tires fitted to an axle shall be not less than the gross axle weight rating (GAWR) of the axle system as specified on the vehicle's certification label.

Goodyear Endurance. If you can get a Load Range D then you should consider it. The extra margin for weight carrying would be a benefit.

One word::::::: COST!

Your manufacturer wanted you to have the LOWEST COST tires..... So they could make more profit.
If there were a tire that cost .50 less. that is what they would want it to have. The same goes for just about everything that your TT is made of. Most RVs have a lot of "BLING". Things that look great on the dealers lot, but cost little and add nothing to actual performance.... Yet impress potential buyers...... While things that really matter like frames, axles, tires, etc. get shortchanged.
