I'm certain there are conditions that could damage the good tire in that scenario. Driving for days on an overloaded single tire. Tires were old as dirt to begin with. Tires almost worn out anyways. But to say unilaterally that both tires must be replaced in this situation must mean one of 2 things. Either you sell tires for a living or your tire shop LOVES to see you walk thru the door!
