I've run the max sidewall pressure on all of my vehicles for years now without any problems with wear. P Metric tires should remain relatively flat at their max pressures, even when lightly loaded. If you're concerned about center wear then you can run a line of chalk across the tire, let it roll for 3 or 5 revolutions, then check the line. If the line is wearing relatively evenly then you're ok. If the middle is gone but the outside edges remain untouched then the tire needs more load to run at that pressure.

BTW, you are correct on your assumption of X2. It means "times 2". If you're the third person to agree then you increment the number to X3 and so on.

I haven't experienced center tire wear on any of my fully inflated tires.

I use a tire tred depth gauge to keep track of wear.

Am I correct in assuming that when you say "fully" inflated, you mean "maximally" inflated?
For our tires, there's a difference of 17# between the two terms.

OK, let's start flattening that curve - what does X2 mean? I see it everywhere, and assume that it's something like "ditto" or "me too."
