Tonneau Cover Opinion - Undercover tri-fold

I bought the Extang Solid Fold Tonneau Cover (under $800) for my truck over 2 years ago and like it a lot. Having a long bed, I can keep it folded while I tow my fifth wheel and when disconnected can secure my bed by closing it.

I have NOT had good luck with BAK, just a FYI.

First hard trifold leaked bad. Sent it back, waiting to be refunded.

I then bought a Revolver X2 hard roll up off a dealers shelf because I needed one in a hurry for a trip. It doesnt roll or unroll worth a darn. The panels bind.

My brother and father both have Extang Solid Fold and they are both very nice covers.

Had Fold A Cover on two different trucks and liked them. Hard, fold into quarters on a long bed. I could still use my fiver hitch easily. Took all of five minutes and 4 bolts to remove when I wanted to haul bark, rock, or trash.

what is your truck? a trifold came on my toyota tacoma and they might also have one for the tundra

That same cover was on my truck when I bought it. I've noticed the gaskets between the 3 sections is leaking a little so items in the bad can get wet. Also, foam rubber strips along the bed are nicked up a little.

Overall I'm happy with it because I don't expect it to be 100% dry.

This is not a tonneau cover but some thing better, look at a Softopper. I've had one for over 10 years, it's as dry as any fiberglas cap, and less than $900. I can put it up in less than 5 min an down in 2. It folds up like a convertible top.

I showed off my wife’s new truck. Since then, we got a Armor Flex Tonneau Cover cover and running boards. We absolutely love the cover. For us, it’s perfect.

We considered the motorize ones, but our purchasing dealer told us the roll up ones, especially the motorized ones, take a lot of front bed space up. On smaller truck beds, we’d loose too much of the bed space.

Considering our new truck is smaller, we wanted to keep as much bed space as possible, and the tri-fold flip one seemed to be the best fit for us. It’s easy to reach the cable releases on each section to open the bed up all the way, or partial.

Actually, we have found, since we’ve purchased it, we don’t open the cover at all. I put a large storage tote in the bed to put stuff in so it won’t slide around so much, and we have several collapsible grocery boxes for smaller stuff. A simple bungee cord across the back, and things don’t move around at all. Yea… it really is a glorified truck now.

Did I say, we absolutely love this cover!

Here’s the cover the day we bought it.



When the tail gait is up, the cover cannot be opened. The tail gait must be down. So if your tail gait has a lock on it, then keep the tail gait locked and the contents are secured – as much as can be.

These supports hold the cover in place. The dealer told me they could be opened like this up to 70 mph. Any faster and it should be closed.

Bought a Fold-a-Cover for my 2015 Silverado 3.5 years ago and am very happy with it. Still looks like new and keeps the bed 99% dry. I think they are all quad-fold - even my short-bed cover. Currently available for my truck for $885.

I installed an undercover tri fold on my 2015 denali when we bought it. functions very similar to what Dutchman sport showed. My previous truck had a roll up vinyl cover. Like the undercover much more. stays looking nice, good protection, can set stuff on it. And with it folded all the way up against the back window I can haul my motorycle if I want.
