Does anybody tow an Arctic Fox 25Y Travel Trailer with a 2015/16 Ford Expedition? The trailer weighs in at around 6900#. Vehicle is rated to tow 9200#.
Any feedback?
Thanks

Power is not a problem with the HD towing package. Payload may be a problem supporting 900-ish pounds of TW plus people and cargo in the truck. Receiver is weak at about 920 pound limit when starting at 760 dry. I expect when loaded for a long weekend it will be closer to 8000 pounds loaded with 950 pounds of loaded TW.

That floorplan tends to be used by couples, not families. You might want to consider the F-150 which offers more payload, and higher receiver limits while costing about $10k less with similar equipment as the Expy. Add a bed cover for $200-2000 for the world largest trunk.

We had an Expedition...and towed different and much lighter trailers with it for years.
We have an Arctic Fox 25Y on order.
The weight you are quoting for the Fox is the dry weight (GVWR is 10,000 lbs)

My opinion...you are asking an awful lot of your Expy.
Also as posted...look at payload, not tow rating. Realistically trip loaded you are looking at 1,200 lbs of tongue weight or more.

If you get the 3.5 EcoBoost you won't lack for power.
But as others have said, you'll run out of payload before hitting your tow capacity. And I don't see any payload specs on Fords website. After adding up the weight of passengers, gear, hitch, and tongue weight you'll probably be over the vehicle GVW.

I have a 2014 Expy with the tow package that can tow 9100 lbs. I tow a Jayco 24 FBS TT that is 6000 lbs loaded (5200 lbs dry). I would not want to tow any more than this, my tongue weight is 800 lbs. Your Arctic Fox would be around 8000 lbs loaded, I would not recommend using the Expy.

I guess it would depend on how much weight will be in the vehicle. If you also plan to carry 6 or 7 passengers with 800-1,200 pounds of weight, it will drastically effect the GVW of the Expedition, and reduce the amount of cargo capacity available for the hitch weight.

Good luck,

Fred.

the AF's hitch weight and your Expy's payload will be more important info.

lots of SUVs have great tow capacities but run out of payload way before they get close to tow capacity.
