Towing with Lance TC:

I've been looking at a new to me rig and need to be sure I can tow with it. This one is a Lance LC480 9.6 which is the length I need but it has the rear bumper that looks like it covers the entire lower area of the truck including license plate and receiver.
Can anyone tell me if without actually loading it up, there is any way to know for sure if this is the case...

Lance actually touted this model and the newer 915 as practical for towing. I have a 480 on a 11 2500hd Chevy. I have a clear shot from the factory receiver, under the camper bumper. And yes it does hide the plate. I have never bothered to take plate off and put on camper. That will probably change if I ever get a ticket. The previous owner set his truck up to tow with the 480. He used the camper 3 times and moved it around his yard for 20 years. I found it on CL and picked it up pretty cheap. Not a bad camper.

If you are going to tow it is hard to beat the Torklift Superhitchg and SuperTruss combination. This provides a very strong and stable combination with no sway on our boat trailer.

Can you tell I have sleep apnea... Explorer makes it sound so easy and of course... it is.. Now why didn't I think of that.. Basic math can be so complicated sometimes..
the seller swears that he got it from a guy with a Super Duty truck same type model year as mine and it didn't cover but I know he is wrong..
I've seen plenty of those with the built in step going down the road and they all have the license plate holder... and much more weight..
Thanks guys..

I had to use a hitch extension with my Lance 915 when towing. I didn't invest in the high dollar super hitch but rather just an 18" extension I purchased through Amazon. A hitch extension like the one I used will lesson your tongue weight capability. The extension worked fine, but I would have been better off with a super hitch.

Measure from the bottom of the camper to the bottom of the bumper. Compare that measurement to the floor of the truck bed, that will show you the clearance.

it will cover the plate which is why lance has a lighted plate holder on the back of the tc. you will need a hitch extension to tow. most of us uese a torklift super hitch plus a super hitch supertruss extension
