Toy Hauler Travel Trailer

Just curious if anyone has thought of buying a travel trailer toy hauler as their family travel trailer even though you did not carry any "toys...quads, motorbikes, etc" Thinking about the thought of one for the cargo space. You would not have to strategically pack. You could just load up all the bikes, kayaks, stove, etc.

True they are heavy and usually require a heavier tow vehicle. Still I love ours and actually feel like we have a nice 8x10 room in the back once the beds are raised. The one down side is that not every site is large enough for me to drop the rear door. Still, it was awesome watching the sunrise and having that nice ocean breeze all night in the outer banks with the rear door down.

Have seen TH used 2 ways besides hauling toys. One family had hooks on the walls to hold all their chairs and misc stuff and their 2 young kiddos had a place to play. They did also load all their other misc camping stuff back there as well. They had a screen that snapped on to keep the bugs out and just a slit-type opening for in and out.

The other was for a handicapped man who needed room for his equipment. They had set up a bedroom for him, but also could open the whole back to get the wheelchair in and out. They also had a screen covering. Don't remember how they did it, but they had blocks or ?? to hold the tailgate open flat so they could set a couple of chairs out and his wheelchair and have some nice outdoor space. Seems like they had an awning of some sort but can't recall how they did it. Creative uses. Both worked well for their needs.

That is our plan. Although we will be getting a 5er. With no toys it will basically be extended living room with beds at night.

That about how we are also. IMO a toy hauler our toy hauler is more roomy than a standard trailer.

Sure a toy hauler would work great for all the kids bikes, toys and games. Mine works well to carry 2 pontoon boats for small lake fishing. If I don't have the quad in the back then I carry my camp stove and other stuff that usually ends up in the back of the pickup.

How do you figure a smaller living space? I have more avaliable room in my toy hauler then a conventional trailer because 8 feet of the back of the trailer is clean open space when the beds are up, plus if I wanted I could level up my ramp and add a ramp room to create even more space. The very back of the trailer is great for grandkids to play with there toys when the weather outside isn't so nice.

Some people do, but TH cost more and are heavier than TT needing a larger TV They also have smaller living spaces so it isn't worth the compromises for most people.

We have a 32' TT TH and although initially we loaded our toys for every trip, we go about 50/50 traveling without our quads onboard nowadays. Have to make sure to load as much as you can to the rear of the axles as tongue weight will be very high without toys onboard which is common for TT TH rigs.
