Trailer Stolen with Man Inside!

This could have turned out really bad:

A Liberty County resident, Mr. James Brown , age 75 years old who lives in the CR 2279 area of South Liberty County had a rude awakening around 2:30am this morning when he awoke to someone hooking onto and pulling his 16’ camper trailer out of his driveway while he was still inside. Mr. Brown attempted to turn the inside trailer lights on but the suspect(s) had already disconnected the power to the trailer and were pulling out of the drive way. The owner immediately got on his cell phone and called “911” advising the Sheriff’s dispatcher of his dilemma and the direction of travel of a pick-up truck that was towing him and his trailer south on Hwy. 321 towards the City of Dayton at a high rate of speed.

While Mr. Brown and his trailer were being towed, he opened the trailer door and began firing several gun shots at the pick-up truck which then began weaving back and forth across the highway, apparently, in an attempt to throw Mr. Brown from his trailer.

The story of when two idiots met…
If the story is true, there is no way the guy could hold the door open and fire his gun at a target… there is almost no way the guy could even see the target from the open doorway of a moving trailer… aimless random discharging of his firearm isn’t self-defense and is dangerous to anyone and everyone in the area… his choices were stupid at best… most likely the best thing that happened is he didn’t hit the guy or anyone else and almost guarantee an accident where he would have been the most venerable person there…

Why can't folks just enjoy a good story without moralizing or condemning certain actions. He did what he did......no killing resulted, no turned over RV and truck, no he wasn't thrown out, no innocent victims were hit by stray bullets.......I get sick and tired of the "what if this or what if that" statements that self righteous people bloviate about.

I just enjoyed the story, and imagined that it could have been something out of a comedy movie.

Now I'll just bet that some of you self righteous folks will burn me for writing this won't you?

How come this happening in Texas (not to mention the idiot trying to shoot at the thief) doesn't surprise me? I wonder how many rounds from his gun found neighbors cars, homes or maybe their pets (assuming that if he had hit people it would've been mentioned).

Where do you come up with this BS?

With a rifle, do you have any idea how many rounds get fired per confirmed "hit" by small arms fire by our armed forces?

Bullets fired don't ever "find" anything, exception being their mark, when aimed and discharged properly.

You are correct .... but.... Most all people shot and murdered in the D are family members, friends or rival gangs. So as long as you don't fit into the loose family thing, are jumping your best friends girl, or a member of a gang odds are you are never going to have a problem. But hey I've lived in and around the D for 67 years and never even seen any altercation. I hang out in the city a few times a week morning ,noon and night.

They sure screwed it up when they arrived. The perpetrator is still on the loose. And they let his friend who certainly could tell them how/where to find him go..

Good job.

Had he not shot at them and let the cops catch up to them they probably would have caught the thief. Just sayin

One should only use deadly force when you or someone immediately close to you is at risk of serious bodily harm or death. At least that's my opinion.

Some states have laws that allow for the use of deadly force to protect one's property. I believe Texas is one of those.

You don't have to agree with that, but I think this man had the law on his side. If the road is rural and more than likely no one around, fire away!

Who knows, he may have planted every round in the truck but dumb luck precluded him from making contact with the perp.

He may have just been shooting into the ground to get the guys attention.

Not enough information for me to attempt to pass judgement, but I lean towards the perp is the idiot!

I'll also stand by my comments about guns that state "most people and I do mean the vast majority" with a concealed weapon or any handgun usage, "even though they have had their 8 hour class" are never going to hit a target at 10 yards and are more likely to hurt or kill an innocent. I've had handguns for 30 years and if you do not practice all the time you are more likely to be the problem!

NOOOO!!!!!!! That sounds like something straight out of the democratic party playbook! I'm sorry, and I don't mean to sound like I'm bashing anyone, but we've heard that argument for YEARS. Its one of the most common anti-gun arguments, whereby people suggest that you're safer without your gun. I'm not going to disagree with the usage of "10 yards", that's a long way off in terms of self-defense. But really, how are you "more likely to be the problem"?

Most people, and I do mean the vast majority, with a concealed weapon didn't shoot, kill, or harm anyone today.

The media keys in on people who use their concealed weapon inappropriately, but down here in FL where we have one of the largest (if not the largest) population of gun-toting wackos, we rarely ever see or read a story about a rogue use of a legally carried gun.

Self Edit: and now this thread is completely off course :B

First I stand by my original comment. Second it would happen in Texas not Michigan. Third to shoot at the driver of the TV is an idiotic move period. Say he killed the guy, just what happens then? The TV and trailer hit a person? A tree? a Building? All while you are in the trailer? Talk about stupid! As is the comment "I would put a round in the rear window" and what maybe kill a by stander? Just how stupid is that?
I have guns but would not use them except in an extreme emergency and this didn't qualify for that matter it does just show that people with guns often are the problem not the answer.
