Truck camper and beach camping Cape Cod

Hi all
Returning from an Alaska trip back to the East Coast and then down home to Florida.
Have always wanted to see Cape Cod and thought I might head there on my return. Can anyone give me info on beach camping there in regards to crowds. I know permits are required but want to know if it's something I can just expect to show up get a permit and head down the beach

#8 question.....it is for measuring 30' "right of way" for cars/RVS from dune/rope line to your RV...not sure about wheel/tire size....there is a few tight spots alone the beach

foot distance.
B. It is recommended that all ORVs are equipped with a bucket, fire extinguisher and a
first aid kit.
C. Minimum acceptable tire rim size for all ORVs is 13 inches.

This is for Sandy Neck they want you so many feet from the dunes

That was quit the trip Caysea , two extremes of the country , FL to AK .

Question for those familiar with Cape Cod beaches . On their web site the tire info is a little confusing . I have a dually with 235/85/16 . Do they met the minimum required tire size ?

This conversation is an XTC SandMan's dream. Thanks for all the useful information. Hope to make these venues in my bucket list, and with my bucket before I'm done.
I don't know what it is about driving a 10K pound white whale on beach sand that intrigues me. Maybe because it goes against the laws of physics and those that have never tried it say it can't be done.
Great stuff.

Hi All
Thanks for the info. I spent 2 nights on the beach at Race point and had a great time. One afternoon had a dozen whales feeding off shore. Sat with my binoculars and enjoyed the show. 4 or 5 blows going up at just about the same time and then breaching. Could make out there whole body on the surface at times.

Full moon ( yes watched the high tide ) couldn't ask for more.

I've spent many a night on CC beaches. I think Race Point has the best "beach" area. Softer sand and MUCH less rocks than say Sandy Neck. That being said I go to Sandy Neck as its closer for me, usually less problems with the plovers, and I've made some great friends. My friends swear by Nauset but I have yet to make it over there. I dont think you can go wrong with any choice! NOTHING like waking up with the water at your back door!

I do a lot of truck camping on Assateague Island here in MD, which has a majority of the beach closed due to piping plovers at the moment. I am hoping the NPS relaxes the restrictions here as well.

The permit requires specific equipment for beach access -- compressor (you must air down, and pump up) air gauge, shovel, tow cable or chain and some other gear (been awhile, can't remember it all) but also for any overnight, you must be self-contained with bathroom and beds for as many as are in camper.

The Permit form lays it out, and security will check it and inspect it first hand to make sure. Worth it tho, great experience ...
