Truck Camper Slide top outer Seal missing?

Good evening!

I'm new to the forum and I have a question about slide out seals. I just picked up this 2004 Snowbird (Snow River) 10.5 super slide camper and it's fantastic. I'm wondering if I'm missing a top outer seal. All inner seals are intact. I feel as though I'm missing something because I can see wood trim. Perhaps a wiper seal?

Here is a link to some additional pics of all four corners of my seals:

Thanks for your help in advance,
Curtis
  • No, you are not missing anything from the factory, sadly they came that way. I actually went and looked at the Arctic Fox slide seals, and had I kept it, I would have tried to install that system onto my Snowbird.
  • Hmm, that one portion in the one corner doesn't look very water tight. That trim along the top sure feels like a seal track. I wonder if a guy could put a seal in there?
  • That would also concern me. Even an awning topper over the slide out would help. This is a pic of my AF with "sweeper" seals all the way around and an awning. Never any leaks.
  • The slide does have a topper and came with it from the factory. I'm waiting for the new awning material to get replaced actually.

I think the design of the slide sealing system on the Snowbird/SnowRiver is exclusive. They don't have wiping sealers like traditional slides. I might go by a dealer to see what they think. I'm concerned they'll have no idea as the company is now defunct and I have no idea which dealers sold them in my town.
  • Well if you replace that awning topper, you will also notice that the two arms mounted on the top of the slide could extend out another 3-4 inches on each side instead of being just wide enough to stop a vertically falling leaf. Awnings should be installed as long as possible to protect from driving rain and wind blown leaves and debris, not just to look pretty. The solution is to purchase a newer longer unit in it's case.

PM me and I will tell you lots more about your Snowbird. Also, if you haven't got a new awning cover yet and live somewhere close.. I do have one here for the shipping only.
