hammer21661,
Sorry, you aren't even close to half right on the Duramax engine. ALL design, prototyping, development, was done in the USA as is ALL production builds and always have been. The joint venture was at the beginning only for mating the best known combinations of the world wide's best diesel engines technology put together and it shows. The 6.6 Duramax is still the same displacement and basic engine going on 14 years and close to 2 millions engines later. Changes mandated by ongoing and increasing emission regulations which have affected all engines over the years along with improvements learned which were implemented for all engines, gas and diesel. Not true about being the same basic engines for GM's competition's diesel offerings. One which went from the 7.3 to the unforgetable 6.0 to the a little better albeit fuel hog 6.4 then to the 6.7 which is solely made in Mexico! The other went from the 5.9 to the 6.7 and none of the 6.7's of either brand have been able to pull an equal load up a grade or get as good of fuel economy as the same displacement 6.6 Duramax as shown in dozens of sanctioned comparison tests yet.
GM soley owns ALL designs, patents, of and has the only rights to manufacture and sell the 6.6 Duramax which is only built in the US of A by Americans and is installed in GM HD pickup trucks etc.
BTW, the GM HD pickups are only built in Flint, Michigan and sold in the USA and Canada and even foreign countries (elsewhere). Get that? Trucks, engines, and transmissions that are built only in the USA and sold elsewhere also unlike their competition who builds elsewhere and imports to the USA for selling!
The VM Motori diesel that is going in the Ram 1500 pickups is also a GM engine design that was intended for the Cadillac originally with a joint venture with VM Motori which in later GM had sold to VM Motori (Italy) and Fiat who controls Chrysler and Ram has pruchased VM Motori and decided to use that foreign made engine in their USA RAM 1500.
Are you a little smarter now so you won't continue to show how little you know about the Duramax etc?
I have to omit that GM has done much better with the Duramax then they did with the Vega engine! Chris
