truck

I pulled a 27'tt with my '99 Dodge 1500 with a 5.2 engine on more than just flat land. Didn't feel unsafe a bit.

If you are trying to stay in the price range of a 1/2 ton get the towing specs for it and then compare them to the TT specs to find one that doesn't exceed the truck's capacity. Keep in mind though that the truck's specs are for the perfect world: flat ground, no fuel in the truck, no driver, no passengers, no gear and no accessories. All of those have to be included in the calculation of the GCVW.

I started out looking for a 27' or 28' TT that I could pull with a half ton. I looked at trucks and bought a 3/4 ton diesel so the truck would not be the limiting factor. Instead, maneuvering and parking it in my backyard became what controlled my camper decision. I was having a hard time finding a TT with the space I wanted that was under 35' (including tongue). The TTs were too long to maneuver so I started looking at 5th wheels and ended up with a 28' 5th wheel.

As mentioned above, better to pick the trailer, then look at a truck, but if you want to, there is no reason that you can't buy a TT that will allow you to stay in the 1/2 category for trucks.

I won't pull a Jon boat without a 1 ton diesel dually, with an after market exhaust and air suspension!!!!

However, I somehow pull with the Truck and TT in my signature just fine!

X2 as always... Also you should consider not only the towing weight but the Tounge Weight as well. Your TV should be set up with the towing package so that you will have upgraded Engine, Transmission, Brakes, Suspension, And Cooling as well.

x2! you need to find some models/floorplans that seem to fit your needs and likes. then shop for a truck to pull it, not the other way around.

27' TT @ 7,400lbs (loaded), I tow it with a F150. I should probably have a F450 for something that size...
