TT - how long is too long ?

Been looking at some new (and used) trailers...saw a couple the other day that were 39 feet long ??? I know 5th wheels regularily pull 40+ foot trailers but wasn't aware of TT that long. For that matter, had always assumed 30 footers were somewhat pushing the envelope for length on a TT...

I would be towing with a 1 ton SRW diesel.

So, is 30 foot OK ? 35 ? 40 ?

Thanks

Depends on where you want to camp and how you use it. For me 25'-26' is about as big as I want to go for where I want to camp. Even then there have been places the max length was 20'

For the DW and me, it needs to be small enough to drive through small towns to five d quilt shops and gun shops. Ours is 25 ft and fits the two of us.

My recommendation is to rent the size TT you think you want and tow it around for a week or so. You will learn a lot very quickly before you part with your big money.

We are canoe and tent campers but for travel and sight seeing we bought a TT. We have towed over 20,000 miles in the last three years and never had an issue with a 25 ft length though a few of the older campgrounds were tight.

One thing I miss with the TT is the feeling of camping.
Twenty six foot 2010 Dutchmen Lite pulled with a 2011 EcoBoost F-150 4x4.

Just right for Grandpa, Grandma and the dog.

We purchased our current 33'TT nearly a decade ago and there were plenty of TTs that were quite a bit longer to choose from. Only you can decide what length is your sweet spot, carefully review your requirements and go for it, your truck appears adequate to pull whatever size you choose. Enjoy your new rig!!!

With a 1 ton and quality WDHitch you shouldn't have a problem towing any length TT..

we towed a 35' TT (7900 loaded) with our 2500 Chevy gas pick up with no issues. have several friends that tow TT's in the 35' range with no complaints -they all have 3/4 ton trucks

Trailers in the 30ish foot range have been around for a long, long time. Our 49 year old Airstream is a 30 foot, for instance.
