TTs with Residential Refigerators

We recently purchased a 2016 Lacrosse 328RES TT which comes standard with a 20 Cubic Foot Whirlpool Residential Refrigerator. The trailer has a built in inverter to power the fridge off 12VDC battery power.

It only takes about 3 hours to get the fridge & freezer to normal operating temps on battery power. No more warm or cold spots in the fridge! Plenty of room for ice. We've only had the TT out 3 times so far, but the wife and I agree that it would be difficult to go back to an RV Fridge.

I have not seen any other TTs with Residential Fridges, but I can't imagine that Lacrosse is the only one. Is anyone familiar with any other TTs that have standard or optional Residential Fridges?
  • I just want a bigger RV type. :) I would give up something else for one.
  • Two completely different types of refrigerators. Home types are compressor driven and need electricity. RV types are absorption units and can use electric or gas.

If electricity is at a premium, the RV units are the logical choice. If electric is not an issue the compressor unit shine.
  • For most people that would work out OK.

Me, I spent the last 3 days dry camping with no electricity. I also have not unloaded my fridge yet, it is still running on gas. I'll empty the fridge tomorrow. When I left home I had 13.5 volts in my 2 - 6 volt deep cycle batteries. After a couple of days of running the fridge, LED bulbs, A 12 volt fan everyday for about 9-10 hours, and running the TV a hour each day. I still have 12.9 volts left in my batteries!

    I love my gas fridge!!!!

Agree, want a big fridge REALLY badly. Ice cream, gin, vodka, ice.

We all have our priorities...I like the order of yours. ;)
  • We looked at some Forest River trailers (Salem or grey wolf maybe?) that had residential whirlpool fridges. They were very nice. Wish my TT had one.
  • Cool that residential fridges are starting to be available for TT's now. Good to know.

The "fin fridge" in our ViewFinder was one of the things I liked least about it.
  • I see them in high end MH's. need a gen set or a good inverter and good battery bank to keep it going.
  • Out previous tt, keystone 38bhds, had a residential fridge. I miss it. Current 5er has a double door rv fridge, and while it has more room than a single door, it struggles to hold temps. I will replace with a residential if this ever conks out.
