TV for Jayco Jay Feather 197
Hi,
My husband and I are in the beginning stages of acquiring a new TT and TV. We've pretty well decided the Jayco Jay Feather 197 is the right trailer for us. Now we are looking for a tow vehicle. The 197 numbers are:
GVWR 4750 lbs
Dry hitch 620 lbs
Those are the only numbers I can find for the unit other than the unloaded weight.
My husband is currently looking into a GMC Sierra 1500 with a 4.3L V6 engine with I believe 2WD (could be wrong about the 2WD). Their website shows a
max GVWR 6900 lbs
max conventional trailering 6000 lbs
front gross axle weight rating 3600 lbs
rear gross axle weight rating 3950 lbs
I understand enough to know that we need to look at GVWR and hitch numbers, but no real comprehension of what everything means. So here I am to ask all of you knowledgeable people out there if this vehicle would work with that trailer.
It's just my husband and I. Perhaps grandchildren in the future (they'd be small, lol). We camp at full-hookup sites so will not be carrying water. We will take trips of about a week, so fairly light cargo. I'm not into bringing a ton of equipment with us when we go out. Between us we weigh 400 lbs.
Can anyone help me with that? I'd sure appreciate it.
Cindy
