Unicorn?

I am looking for something that may not exist. A camper that has a king sized bed and either easy chairs or a comfortable couch, that will fit on a SRW 350 Ford 4x4 and be able to tow my 3500 lb bass boat. My other campers were all Lance, and they were not a comfortable place to spend an evening sitting at the dinette.
  • I have a king in my 1181. Just asked Lance to leave out the driver's side locker. It is not structural. Memory foam. Since it is wall-to-closet, we only put on a fitted sheet, then make the rest of the bed so that access is along the middle. Covers overlap so no cold for either sleeper.

  • I just purchased a Host Cascade and have it on a 2019 Ram 3500 long bed DRW. The Cascade has an option for a King bed and recliners. From the research I did, I think a SRW can handle the Cascade weight, but it is a tall camper with a basement, and sits about 12 feet high from the ground to top of AC. It catches a good amount of wind and I am thankful I went with a DRW. I tried to avoid it, but todays campers are just massive. I even considered a truck camper designed for a short bed to put on my long bed truck. I understand that most people don't want to spend the money for a new DRW truck as well as a camper, but I think MORE truck is always better. And since we plan to have this rig to use during our retirement in 6 or 7 years, I went ahead and upgraded for the future.
  • Rainbow silly. Everyone know that. I was looking at the host Cascade. It has everything I want but I don't think it would be a good match for a SWD. Thanks for the replies.
  • Host's Cascade has those options.. I've got them and you are right, .. much more comfortable than standard layout..

but on your SRW truck, especially towing ?.. that would be the big decision.. .. truck mods and evaluation of handling..

I know of one member on this forum that did what you are suggesting with a Cascade, but immediately upgraded to a dually.
  • King size bed would take whole width of cabover, when cabinets in cabover are not only for storage, but they are also structural reinforcement.
We have Lance 1161 and dinette in slide is pretty comfortable.
