We used to camp at Lake Wenatchee several times a year but when they cut down all the trees and underbrush, it just turned into a mud pit. Like camping in a strip mining operation. It was a terrible loss for Washingtons camping system.
We stayed again this last spring and it's finally coming back. Lots of bushes and new growth.
It's a particularly nice place when it's hot outside. The lake is always refreshing.
The North side is newer and full of RVs where it seems people just stay in their trailers and not go out. Not for me. The South area is older but more inviting with the beach and river. Not sure if the North side has a beach access. I've been going to Lake Wenatchee for 50 years. I'll say, if possible, we have preferred Nason Creek camp ground just outside the South entrance, especially if you can get a riverside site. If that's full, I go to where I did or one of several other nice campgrounds up the road.
