Waiting for our 2015i GMC 3500HD Duramax

We lost our 2011 Jayco 26BH to hail last year so since our daughter was going to attend nursing school decided to trade the 2011 2500HD for a comfy 2012 Tahoe LTZ for the wife. We enjoy the creature comforts of the Tahoe but miss my truck. Started looking at campers again but when factoring in the towing capabilities/characteristics of the Tahoe not very happy with out choices. Wife said we can go back to a truck again as long as we have all the amenities she now enjoys so we've ordered a 2015i GMC 3500HD SLT Crew Cab 4x4 Duramax in Bronze Alloy Metallic with Cocoa Dune Leather. Went with the SLT as she likes the chrome grill and bumpers, she hates the look of the Denali. This is the first vehicle I've ever ordered out of 40 we've owned. After my wife test drove a Duramax there was no doubt in her mind that we would be ordering a diesel. By the look on her face I will probably be replacing tires more often than not as her right foot seemed to be linked to her ears hearing the turbo spooling up. Looking forward to getting it, now the decision to continue with a bumper pull or 5th wheel.
  • Ups the power? All three of the manufacturers keep trying to one-up each other with more torque and horsepower than one needs.
  • I believe it will have more than enough power for my wife!! This will be her daily driver.

Id consider a GM 3500 when Duramax ups the power.

Why would you need more power? The D'max already out performs your Blue oval.:S

That is very funny, I hope that was just a joke. I have never heard anyone say the reasons they won't consider a Duramax is lack of power.
  • What does the "i" in 2015i stand for?

    International? Independent? Impressive? Inconsequential?
  • i = 2015 1/2 with new mirrors and wheels. Same powertrain...

Rumor has it 2016 has some changes coming in the powertrain department.

Personally coming from a 2012 I'd like to see improvments focused on the highly unreliable emissions system of these trucks. Power is not the problem guys...

Anyone who says the Dmax needs more power simply pays to much attention to rated "paper" figures.
  • To heck with the truck comments, it's coming and I know your wife's going to enjoy her new truck.

Get a 5th wheel. Now you get to make her happy all over again by taking her shopping for a trailer.

    Life is good.
  • There's so little power difference between the big three that it just doesn't at all anymore.
Buy the truck you like and don't worry about the silly bragging rights idiocy.
  • Power has never been an issue will us towing our 35 ft alpenlite. 22920 combined lbs.
