Water getting in GenSet compartment on 90' Lance 2010

I am suspecting the door seal is not working as it should there may be a gap in the seal at the top of the door. Hopfully I can find something at a big box store to replace the seal that is there. When ever it rains, the floor of the compartment fills up w/ water.

  • Thanks guys. I think the water is creeping in the top left corner. I can see on the door frame an area where there looks to be no contact with the gasket. I thing the water runs down the wall and into the seem there. A hose will help me determine this.
  • I`d look at two places
First at the grill with the piece of plastic behind it, its held in with a piece of rubber on the inside , looks like its been siliconed in , at the bottom it going to want to collect water ,if its not sealed well its going to come in. I`d pull it apart and get rid of the grill and just use the plasic , and use proflex to seal it in with the rubber behind it

Second place to look is at the bottom just at the bottom behind the rubber gasket there are probably a couple of screws going thru the compartment dr and in to the frame to hold the dr in ,if they don't have some sealant over them the holes let water into the box , that happened to mine
  • In my previous Lance, a 2001 model, I found out the hard way that the water was getting into that compartment from underneath the rig. The rear truck tires were throwing the water off the highway up onto the area behind the tires. I ended up with major wood rot, behind the metal and had to rebuild the entire corner. What I found in taking it apart was there was no sign of any caulk on any of the underneath seams. I had been very diligent about going over the upper seams, windows, lights, etc. every six months and recaulking as needed. Never once thought about the need to check under the back of the TC.

  • Yes. should there be a genset there, the cover would apparently come off the grille. I do not have a genset.
  • What is the purpose of the grille there. It looks like water stains on the inside of the door around that grille area. Dummy me genset compartment
