water heater question

We own small TT KZ escape. This morning we woke up to no hot water after pulling into campsite yesterday ( This is first time we have taken TT out this season). Yesterday we had hot water so something happened overnight. The water heater has automatic pilot light. When I put the water heater switch to the 'on' position from inside the trailer, nothing happens...no light comes on...We have propane (meter says so and stove works). I went outside to see if pushing the black reset button would do anything. It did not need reset....My guess is somewhere, somehow, there is something going on with the electrical system which tells the pilot light to ignite...I don't see any breaker switch thrown in the main fuse panel area.....Please advise...Thank you

Often the door to the 12v fuse box will have a fuse puller attached in one of the corners. It is just a plastic "tweezer" type of device with a couple of prongs to help hold the fuse as you pull it. Some of those 12v fuses are quite tenacious and don't like being pulled. Kind of like wisdom teeth!:B

Haha - that depends on your fingers. 🙂 A small pair of needle nose pliers can come in handy, just be gentle... Should not require lots of force.

thanks.....gotta run to the store and pick up some 15 amp fuses....will report back in a bit.....thanks for sure!!! I assume I don't need any tool except for my two fingers ?

In these RVs anything is possible! LOL! Some of these 120v breakers are
2-in-ones.. It looks like one breaker, but there are actually two switches/separate breakers. I can only guess that is what you have here. Or - they could really share one breaker. Seems like you need to be concerned with the 12V side of things for now. Yank those fuses one at a time and see if any have that bridge between the two blades opened up/burnt.

I don't think they share the same fuse but it appears they share the same circuit breaker, at least according to the label on the circuit breaker, (if that is possible)

The WH and MW can't share a fuse, the MW is 120 VAC and the WH uses 12 VDC controls.

Yah - if the fuses have no label pull them one at a time and inspect to see if they are burned through. Hopefully you will find one.

yes...bought a small TT and drove around country for 2 months and loved it so decided to go full time and bought 38 foot fifth wheel and been in that for couple years.....Big rig is having some work done to it and we decided to take the old TT out to see if all still works....Enjoying the smallness of it where we can get into little camp sites.....The lifestyles in each unit are different but both are fun

The OP owns both a Mobile Suites 5th wheel and a KZ escape according to his earlier posts on the 5th wheel board. Very lucky to have two camping units. If you are going to own two of these things you need to get yourself to a dealer and have a service tech walk you around your units and show you how everything works.

so it looks like the microwave and the water heater share the same circuit breaker...It makes sense that one of the 15 amp fuses burned out (?) and needs replaced...I will have to try and figure out which one as none is labeled 'water heater'...I can eliminate many of them ….These just plug in and plug out....easy as pie ? or is there anything I need to know before I start pulling one out ?

OK One of those fuses could be bad.

I might have confused you.

The fuses are all 12 volt fuses.

The number you see on them as their dc amperage ratings. One of those fuses is for the 12volt side of your heater - hopefully these fuses are labled somehow. Take a look at the door maybe for a chart listing what fuse is for what...

The fuses are all 12 volt, the 10 and 30 you see is the amps each fuse is rated for.
Are they labeled? There should be one for the water heater, if not, pull them one by one and check to see if the metal that bridges the 2 terminals is melted off.

yeah...under the refrigerator I can see all the fuses..there is one breaker for the converter....I see a bunch of fuses (10, 30) but no 12...I turned the breakers on and off to no avail

You should have a "converter" probably below your fridge or cook stove in the kitchen area. That should house your 120v breakers and 12v fuses.
