water heater

My water heater runs of gas or electric. Today when I left the campground to come home I left the switch on electric just wondering if this could do any damage. My battery was still hooked up and camper was plugged into my truck. I'm hoping it only works off of the 30 amp breaker when plugged in.
  • When you unplugged and drove down the road the water heater electric was not powered....
    110V AC for element
    12V DC for LP
  • Some people run their WH's on electric and propane to speed up the heating process. I personally don't see the difference because my Atwood has an 18 gallon an hour recovery rate.

  • I go one step further - I turn off the circuit breaker for the WH to be sure it won't come on when it's empty.
  • Is the water supply on? Good idea to shut the water off when you leave an RV un-attended. Good luck.
  • Can't hurt a thing...
Your electric side will only run on 110v current. Also, the tank was probably still full of water.

Just never turn on your water heater when the tank has been drained and not refilled.
  • Yes, electric WH works off shore power. Is that your question?
