Water Line Valve Repair

We need to replace a leaking valve in the cold water line to the hot water tank. We bought a new valve, but are concerned about removing the old one. Can anyone tell us if the valves are glued to the water line? Or can it be removed by simply removing the water line clamp that is attached? We don't want to cut the line, it's not long enough, and if we cut it, it will create just more repair work!
  • Not much detail about what you have...but if it is PEX tubing, it's easy to replace/work with. Home Depot for SharkBite fittings and extra tubing if you need it.

    See SharkBite HERE

If you are dealing with PEX (plastic waterlines), yes you can remove the crimp on clamp and remove the old valve. You will need a tool to crimp the new clamp, there is an option that does not require any special tools to clamp the pipe. These are called Sharkbite fittings, they are simply a push on fitting and may be a better option for one off repair.
  • can you take a picture of the valve and what your working with it would help a lot with the types of answers you get
