We have used McGuires on our trailer since we bought it in 2015. It looks so good no one believes itโs really 9 years old.

It sounds to me like you have oxidation from the sun. No matter what you do to the camper if you don't buff it off it will look the same. This is the best kit on the market and I have used it many times as I used to do this for a living. You can do it by hand but I highly recommend a buffer. I recommend the cheapest random orbital you can find.
If you want to skip two steps then try this.

Not sure if you're aware but this post is 10 years old.

You can try using WD-40 to remove wax residue. Shake the WD-40 can well and spray a small amount directly onto the wax residue. Allow the WD-40 to sit on the wax for a few minutes to penetrate and soften it.

Sounds like the wax you used co-mingled with the paint on your camper, caused a chemical reaction and now it's permanently, actually part of the paint and will never come out.
Not much you can do if that's what happened, except .... buy a new camper. ๐ (Hey, that ain't such a bad idea, is it?)
