WD hitch

Just getting ready to tow my trailer I bought last fall for the first time with the family. Need to buy tires and a hitch. The details on my TV and TT are here: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/27233118.cfm

I was angling toward Maxxis tires and Reese Straight Line duel cam WD hitch. As it turns out nobody around here (Kitchener ON Canada) carries Maxxis. And the three big local trailer shops are all pushing the E2 (round bar).

I feel like I'm am settling for Goodyear Marathon Tires and the E2. I don't have time to order and run to the US to get them. I did tow the trailer a couple hours home with a standard $40 hitch (I bought the day I bought the trailer) at hwy speeds and it felt good but I won't do that with my family in the car.

Trailer is relatively light for it size. I've towed heavier stuff on a equipment trailer with a pintal but nothing with nearly the amount side surface area. So not sure what to expect from wind.

Should I keep searching for a dealer carrying the Reese or will the E2 be good enough.

Steve

P.S. Aggravating to pay $550CAN when Amazon.com sells it for $285USD.
  • I ordered my Equal-i-Zer brand hitch through our local Go Glass fealer in Kincardine ON. Quick delivery and I thought the best price I could easily get. I also ordered the ball from Equal-i-zer since they have a restriction on maximum threaded shank length. I had a heavy truck repair shop torque the ball nut and used my own torque wrench to assemble and install the rest of the hitch.
  • Not real familiar with the E2 (aka fast way hitch). It looks to be similar to the equal-i-zer in function. Any wdh w/ sway control is better than no wdh or sway control. Can you get your hands on the reese dual cam or the equal-i-zer? I've seen a lot of people happy with blue ox as well.
