Well guess adding airbags

So I compared my old truck to the new truck we have.
Last one was the 2500 Mega cab but had air bags.
New one 3500 crew cab does not have any.
It rode great on the way to the dealership, thinking I'm going to add them as we pick up the new trailer in the morning and it weighs a bit more than the last.

What do you all think.

Have only towed the old trailer from our house to the dealership for repairs so approximately 40 miles with the new truck.

The thing with the SRW 3500's is they don't have the typical overload springs on the top that engages. The overload spring is one thick leaf on the bottom. OP , that truck will be just fine that way. I believe you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well it will handle and ride like that. My 2013 was the same way and honestly I liked the way it handled the load better than my 2016 Mega cab with the auto air leveling.

Here's the 13's stance loaded........

Here's the 16 with the same load. Again, although the 16 looks better riding at the original ride height I liked the ride and handling of the 13 better..

The New 3500 does sit higher than the 2500.
Just from comparing the two different trailer as well I think the one Older Crossroads Cruiser sits higher than the new Sierra we are going to pick up. Could just be the way the shop has them parked but to me I felt like I had to duck a bit more to go under over hang.

The new Sierra all the storage is up front except for a spot under the rear bed. So the pin weight should go above what they have listed as 2250lbs. We also get a new hitch today as well so have to see about adjustments there.

Going to snap a few photos of it and I'll put them up to compare as well. Then work on the adjustments to get hem level.

So what I see is the new 3500 sits higher at the TG than the 2500. With the 2500 the 5er looks level, with the 3500 the 5er looks a little nose high, which can make the TV look a bit down in the rear.
If you lad the new 5er with 1,000# of stuff pin should go up about 250# tor 2,500#, what does the current pin weigh.

I'm assuming the second pic is the new truck, and yes I can see the difference in the rear ride heights.

I know according to some on here, only Ford's squat under a load, but I agree with you that if that's your old trailer, and the new one is heavier, I'd be investing in a set of bags.

Just the versatility of being able to set the right height based on how you load your gear in the trailer would be worth it in my opinion.

Coming from the bumper pull toyhauler side of things, my tonque weights can vary greatly depending on how or if I load the toys/tanks/gear. The same trailer can have anywhere from 1200-2200lbs of tongue weight. Add to that, sometimes the truck bed is empty, other times it has 3000lbs in it plus the trailer tongue weight.

From the pics it looks a little nose high. My personal pref would be to stiffen it up a bit. Wouldn't take much air. Some stable load type spacers would even do the trick. Just to get the overload leaf involved a little quicker.

Looks alright to me.

If it needs anything more, I would add a leaf to the overloads. It doesn't affect the unloaded ride and both raises and firms up the loaded ride.

Looks normal to me, I would not spend the money unless it was really needed. Btw that's a really nice truck!
A truck, a camper, a few toys, but most importantly a wonderful family.

Well we pick up the new one tomorrow a Sierra 377flik

Says the weight should be 2250.
Since our other trailer gave issues all summer long we will only get maybe two more trips before we are done.
Mostly because of school for the kids and our work schedules, but we will see how it goes.

You would need at least 3500 lbs of pin weight to even begin thinking of adding bags.Your truck likely has somewhere between 3700-4200 payload, as long as your under your rating, there is nothing to be gained.

Looks fine to me. Our '04 F350 has factory 6 spring pack plus overload springs, sits perfectly level with our 13,000lb toyhauler. No air bags needed.

Why would you not try it first and see how it does before spending the money?

Why would it be a law?
