But in the back of my mind, I knew otherwise.I really didn't want to spend more money but somethings just have to be done right. With upper and lower stableloads and the camper package on my 2011 F350 we sat about 2 inches lower in the front with the 1055 in the bed (level with just the upper stable loads). Hooked up the horse trailer today on level ground. Truck sits about 1" nose high with no horses in the trailer. That is not going to cut it when I add in 2 horses and 2400 more pounds. Sometimes we take just one horse, sometimes two so I need rapid adjustability (what I was hoping I could do with lower stable loads but I have all 3 wedges in place right now). So Airbags it is. I ordered them today, be here on Wednesday and installed by Friday.

I think airbags give a better ride and will give you more flexibility. Overall, I think it's a good call, but then, I don't have a problem with airbags.

I think a RV is like a house. You're never done.You just take a break between projects. :)

The issue is truck levelness for steering, lights, weight distribution etc. That cannont be fixed at the hitch.

As it is I will need to flip the fin 180 for more ground clearance to avoid ground scrapes and rebolt on the ball mount. Set up is an exersize in trial and error with many micro adjustments until you get the correct balance. Fully loaded on the highway on a trip is not that time to find out that you messed up.

I would set the regulator on my compressor and let the air fill the bags till I heard it stop flowing. I used the same pressure on both sides so it was easy to set the regulator to 40 or 50 PSI prior to filling. I never bought the on-board air option for my bags and did not miss it although on-board air would handy for other things when tied to a storage tank.

Nope, thats just another thing to get broken in my book. I will keep it simple and use my bike pump just like I have for the last 5 years in my old truck, never had an issue doing it that way.

Maybe but this has to be wrapped up and ready to rock by Friday. Airbags arrive tomorrow and the install should be done by Thursday afternoon. I will have Saturday to test drive and fine tune everything. The reamining time before Championships is dedicated to loading gear in the TC and feed and tack into the trailer. All hell just broke loose at work, more buisness than we have staff so I may be staying behind. The rig has to be rock solid for my wife to head out max load behind the wheel.

Make sure you get the onboard compressor, adjust the pressure from your cab

It would be a couple hundred more dollars, but you could just have some heavier duty rear springs made. I don't like airbags personally.

Sorry, I meant hauling the 4000 lb TC only required upper and lower StableLoads with OEM springs. Once I added 750 lbs of tongue weight to my 28" extension, I needed the bags even when I used a weight distribution hitch to level out the truck.

I am a bit confused. You post no need for air bags, then go on to say you needed about 50 psi in the air bags. Could you elaborate?

My F250 was the same. With upper and lower StableLoads, I did not need airbags. Once I added the hitch weight of my enclosed trailer, I needed about 50 PSI in the bags to level out.

My 5500 carries my camper rear high and is about level with the trailer attached with no suspension aids. I suspect my next TC will be a ton heavier and even I will be going back to StableLoads to keep things level.
